What a Difference One Half Can Make

Fishers Tigers put together a great first half and went into half leading 28-0 over HSE.  The second half was a completely different story and left the Tigers on the losing end of an incredibly disappointing 39-33 defeat.

The second half saw the Tigers giving the ball up to opponents for the first time this season and those critical giveaways allowed HSE to score quickly and often from the end of the 3rd and late into the 4th quarters to steal away the Mudsock trophy this year.

After a Fishers field goal with 3:00 left in the 3rd quarter, the Tigers were still holding a 31-7 lead over the Royals.  Capitalizing on fumbles and stalled drives by the Tigers, HSE would score with 2:00 left in the 3rd to take it to 31-13 after failing on 2 point conversion.  The 3rd quarter ended with Tigers up 31-13.

Fourth quarter continued the Tiger crumbling.  With 9:50 left in game, HSE scored another TD.  With 8:50 left, HSE scored again but failed on the 2 point conversion.  Fishers 31, HSE 26.  With 7:15 left, HSE scores again and take the lead 32-31 after failing on the 2 point conversion.  With 2:23 left in the game, HSE would score on a long Aaron Matio run and lead 39-31 over the Tigers.  Late in the 4th quarter, Tigers would drive down to the HSE 1 yard line but would fail on 4th down to get the ball into the endzone and HSE would run the clock with a safety and a 39-33 come from way behind win over the Tigers.

A game for many high school football fans that will not be forgotten.  Perhaps, the Fishers Tigers should be the first to not forget this one!  Play the game till the end, the VERY END!

After a disastrous 2nd half, the picture in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference looks much different than we hoped it would after week 4.
