HSE game article

I've been getting many emails asking for an update article on the HSE game and have been too busy.  I think the HCSportsdaily crew are doing a great job and that a link to their write-up of the game is sufficient.

Fishers plays Westfield this week and we all hope they can get back on track against an improved Westfield team that lost 24-20 to Avon in week 2.

Disappointing Loss

Our Tigers went down friday night to a worthy opponent that welcomed back Ryan Ripp.  The game started well but, in the end, we didn't have enough offensive consistency to hold the Royals down.  Let's lift our spirits and support our team as we have a very strong team that will want nothing more than a second shot at HSE in sectionals and has a shot at HCC championship and very much more still in front of them.

Stats for the game can be pulled off the Fishers HS site by going HERE.

If you have any comments on the game, positives and negatives, please do so as I am interested in thoughts on the night and blues we have this week.

          Go Tigers!  Bounce back stronger!

Indianapolis Star has something...

Kyle Neddenriep article in wednesday's Indianapolis Star has our game as one of the five to watch in the area.  Fine but I can't believe The Star can't have a Fishers Tiger instead!  GO TIGERS!!!

Week 1 in the books...

Fishers Tigers 2012 Season, Week 1

The first game of the year is always interesting to see how the team executes on both sides of the ball and fans can take a great measure of pride in our Tigers as they started the season with a 38-0 victory last Friday night over Noblesville Millers.  While attention quickly focuses on the week 2 opposition from the other side of town, lets give some credit where it has been earned.

On offense, Junior Connor Christiansen was 9 of 13 for 146 yards, 1 TD to Senior Justin Winegar. Christiansen also had a couple of rushing touchdowns of 11 and 1 yards.  Senior Ben Pritchett was also strong going 5 of 7 for 52 yards.  Senior Max Leamer was the big receiver on the night capturing 4 receptions for 71 yards.  The rushing attack for Tigers continues to look strong early with team rushing for 163 yards led by Junior Harvey Allen, 90 yards on 15 carries, and Sophomore Maurice Campbell, 35 yards on 8 carries including a 9 yard TD run.  Expect even stronger output from the running game as this season progresses and the running backs get more reps against the level of competition they will be seeing every week.  They are a talented bunch with depth that Fishers hasn't often had at that position in the past.

Defensively, the Tigers D have high expectations with a number of starters that return for this season.  They did not disappoint in delivering a shutout for Tiger fans and showed they will play to the whistle and exhaust HCC offenses.  The linebacker corps of seniors Liam Duddy, Rob Peck and Matt Van Hoosen are the shut-down type of linebackers that fans will enjoy watching this entire season.  The return of Senior Cody Moore on the defensive line, injured last season, is a huge factor and he seems 100% ready to go this year after a good offseason.  Another defensive lineman, Senior Ryan Coleman, played extremely well and will be one to watch this year.  Backed up by an improved group in the defensive backfield which includes Senior Seth Riley at safety, the Tigers have one of their best balanced defensive groups ever.

A tackle by Senior Scott Wood is currently winning on votes on the local FOX news outlet’s “Big Nasty Hit” for the week and it definitely made the crowd say “ouch”!  To see the hit and vote for Scott delivering the wood, go to Fox59.  In another play, Seth Riley gave a lesson in heads-up football to a Miller in motion that also gets voting attention on Indy Star at this link.  Other Fishers highlights can be seen on WISH TV8 at WISH TV8.

Outside of a slightly shaky start on offense where the Tigers had trouble getting on the other side of the football field, the team had an exceptional start and will work on any issues on special teams (return team has some yips to sort out!) and will gain strength.  Tiger fans would also like to thank WTHR 13 for the tailgate festivities and you are always welcome back – great ribeye steaks!  Many videos of the night, both on and off the field are on the WTHR13 website.  Keep it up student section and GO TO AWAY GAMES!!!

The last time the Tigers goose-egged an opponent was during the magical 2010 season sectional final against HSE when they won 28-0.  Speaking of HSE, the Tigers football team and all of Fishers will be bringing the game to HSE this week for what should be a very tough game against a struggling, injury laden team that lost to Avon in week, 17-14.  If the Tigers bring their game, stick to their assignments and wrap up the Royals, the Tigers should punctuate the night with a victory to remember.
