Tigers Win @ Anderson 27-14

Tigers win their sectional opener against Anderson Indians on the road in sloppy conditions.

Going on the road is never easy and doing so on a natural turf turning into slop before kickoff is even more so.  The Tigers surprised some by going to the pass more often than expected after getting a quick turnover thanks to a big hit by Seth Riley on Anderson's Jerian Beard on the first offensive play of the game that forced the fumble and recovery by the Tigers.  Jerian Beard was held to just 40 yards on 15 carries.

Fishers was able to score off that turnover and would take a 14-0 lead after the first quarter.

Anderson, with an offense averaging more than 30 points per game, was kept off the scoreboard most of the game thanks to the Tiger defense and sloppy conditions.

The final score of 27-14 is not indicative of the Tiger domination on the night.  Anderson's ability to put up a lot of points and the weather conditions left Tigers players and staff more than pleased to hustle out of Anderson with the first round sectional win and the chance to play next week.

Leading the Fishers running attack that had a total of 109 yards was Maurice Campbell with 59 yards on 16 rushes and Harvey Allen with 40 yards on 7 carries and a TD.

The Fishers passing attack was 13-22 for a total of 208 yards and 3 TDs.  Highlighting the receiving corps for Tigers was J-Shun Harris who had 7 catches for 108 yards and 2 TDs on the night.  His long TD reception of 35 yards was for a touchdown and highlighted his ability to sucker the defender and get to the ball.

On the Anderson side, their offense was highlighted by Senior QB Curtis Wilson's 284 yards on 12 for 23 attempts and 2 TDs.  His 3 interceptions were costly as was the earlier fumble by Beard.
Next week will be intense as the second round sectional opponent will be none other than the Royals.
