Fishers Tigers spent the night indoors at Lucas Oil Stadium and didn't leave their fans disappointed after handling previously undefeated Avon for a 34-9 victory.
The Tigers were able to recover from a defensive breakdown and shifty running after a short catch by Mikell the gave Avon a brief lead at 6-3 on a long 80 yard play in 1st half. The Orioles would miss the PAT in what would foretell the dominance of the Fishers Tigers from that point.
Tigers held just a 10-9 lead at half and only had a 13-9 lead after 3 quarters but scored 21points in the 4th quarter to blow it open. The second half that was highlighted by a penalty stricken Avon offense that was shut down by the Fishers defense. One key drive in the game resulted in Avon missing a FG after they were knocking on the door inside the 5 yard line but were stopped on defense by the stout Fishers defensive determination and key pressure from DT Cody Moore, LB Matt Van Hoosen and a most timely sack by LB Liam Duddy.
Connor Christiansen was extremely well-composed and deliberate at QB, managing his offense better than we've seen all this year. Christiansen ended up with 2 passing TDs and added rushing TD. His pocket presence and patience was key offensively for the Tigers victory and are now 3-0 in Lucas Oil Stadium and continue to hope for being 4-0 before the season is complete.
Stats will be posted tomorrow.
